Techspace Aero receives the prize for the most attractive employer in the French-speaking part of Belgium
For the 8th year running, the Randstad Company conducted a widespread survey into the attractiveness of Belgian employers. After having questioned 10,000 persons chosen at random, it awarded a prize (one employer in the French-speaking and one in the Dutch-speaking region) to the company judged to be the most attractive.
Techspace Aero was the company to be awarded the prize for the French-speaking region in 2008.
The Randstad award rewards relative attractiveness: it is based on the highest percentage of persons who like to work there, among those who are familiar with the company.
Very honoured by this distinction, Philippe Schleicher declared that he was very satisfied to state that in a period of labour shortages in technical careers, a high-technology industrial company should be rewarded in this way. He was also keen to pay tribute to all TA’s staff who convey an excellent image of the company to the outside world.

Techspace Aero rationalizes energy and reduces its CO2 emissions thanks to cogeneration
Techspace Aero has become a pioneer among Walloon companies by investing in a cogeneration unit. The installation, which is one of the largest in the Walloon technical industry sector, simultaneously produces heat and electricity and enables energy savings of between 15 and 20% when compared to the same amount of energy produced by separate means. The unit was inaugurated, during the “Walloon Cogen tour”, on March 28th by André Antoine the minister of Housing, Transport and Regional Development who is in charge of Energy.

An F16 touches down at Techspace Aero
Over the last few days, technical teams from Comopsair (Airborne section of Belgian Defence) have been working away at Techspace Aero in order to put an F16 fighter plane in place. This move is an illustration of the close ties between the company in Herstal and the Belgian Defence, in particular, it’s Airborne division.
Techspace Aero had, in fact, approached the minister of Defence, André Flahaut, asking if they could have one of the aircraft which were part of the 116 planes ordered by Belgium in 1976, and which are slowly being withdrawn from service.
Thirty years after setting up in the Hauts-Sarts industrial zone, Techspace Aero has been entrusted with the plane for which it made and assembled almost 600 engines (Pratt & Whitney engine F100), not to mention the maintenance carried out on over 5000 engine modules to this day. All this was achieved due to business built up with 14 air forces around the world.

Techspace Aero delivers the first GEnx module
On January tenth, Techspace Aero sent the low pressure compressor for the Genx-1B engine to General Electric in Evendale (Ohio). The compressor was assembled, equilibrated and fully instrumented and will serve in the First Engine To Test.
Techspace Aero has been applauded by General Electric and all the project’s partners for its respect of the delivery deadlines. This success is the fruit of 13 months of development in which the commitment of the Techspace Aero teams enabled a reduction in the conception and industrialisation cycles.
The next steps are the delivery of the second instrumented booster planned for March 21 2006 and the start of the test certification campaign planned for the end of March 2006.
The GEnx-1B engine will have a thrust of around 70.000lbs and will equip the Boeing 787. Its certification is expected in September 2007. Techspace Aero is also participating in the development of the GEnx-2B for the Boeing 747-8 and the GEnx-1A which will equip the Airbus A350.

Techspace Aero is celebrating its 25 years at the Hauts-Sarts site and inaugurating the Aeronautics roundabout
The FN Moteurs Division, today Techspace Aero, inaugurated its new establishment on the Hauts-Sarts industrial estate at Herstal in May 1979. It had at this time become essential to build a new plant to produce and assemble the F100 engines fitted in the F16 fighters and thus respond to what was nicknamed “the contract of the century”.
To celebrate this anniversary, Techspace Aero inaugurated the Aeronautics roundabout near its plant on 14 May 2004 in conjunction with the Town of Herstal and the Air Division of the Belgian Defence. A Fouga Magister fighter aircraft belonging to the Belgian Army is now on display in the middle of this roundabout (exit 34 on motorway E313), a symbol of high technology serving aeronautics.
This event was also an occasion for Techspace Aero to invite members of staff and their families to a day of celebration on Saturday, 15 May, to visit the plant and enjoy hidden staff talents and a variety of entertainments in a friendly atmosphere.
