Royal Danish Air Force Selects Techspace Aero and Pratt & Whitney Team for F100 Engine Support
January 2003
The Royal Danish Air Force (RDAF) selected the team of Techspace Aero and Pratt & Whitney to provide a complete material management program in support of F100-PW-200 engines powering their F-16 fighters. Under a five-year contract with option for a period of five years, the Techspace Aero/Pratt & Whitney industry team will provide spare parts and their management to the RDAF.
Techspace Aero, the prime contractor, currently provides all depot level maintenance support for the RDAF F100 engine fleet, and will continue to do so under the new contract terms. Additionally, under the new arrangement, Techspace Aero and Pratt & Whitney will work together to also supply spare parts and track technical orders and engineering changes to optimize engine fleet readiness.
“This new approach in which we team with Pratt & Whitney provides a best value solution to our longstanding customer, the Royal Danish Air Force,” said Jean-Lin Fournereaux, President and Chief Executive Officer, TA. “Working together, we will assure that the customer has exactly what they need, when they need it, and where they want it. It further allows the RDAF to concentrate on its pure defense core activities. The RDAF is considered to be a forerunner in this type of contracting activity, and we look forward to providing them exceptional service and value.”
The RDAF contract closely followed the signing of a partnering agreement between Pratt &Whitney and Techspace Aero, in which the two companies will collaborate to provide improved F100 engine material provisioning and maintenance management services for the European Participating Air Force (EPAF) members. EPAF members include Belgian Defense, Royal Danish Air Force, Portuguese Air Force, Royal Norwegian Air Force and Royal Netherlands Air Force.
“Our agreement with Techspace Aero will help further our common efforts to optimize F100 engine fleet management for all EPAF nations,” said Lloyd “Fig” Newton, Senior Vice President of Military Customers and Requirements, Pratt & Whitney. “Pratt & Whitney has a long-term relationship with Techspace Aero on numerous military and commercial platforms. When we combine our respective expertise, we can provide our customers with unmatched capabilities and readiness.”
21 of the world’s best air forces have selected the Pratt & Whitney F100 engine to power their F-15 and F-16 fighters. There are nearly 7,000 F100 engines installed worldwide. The engine fleet has more than 16 million engine flight hours of experience. Continuous improvements keep the F100 engine family at the forefront of rugged reliability.
Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies (NYSE: UTX) company, is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines, space propulsion systems and industrial gas turbines.
Techspace Aero, a Snecma Group company, is active in design, development, manufacture and service of major assemblies, subsets, parts and equipment for aircraft engine and spacecraft propulsion systems.
